Banking and Finance Lawyer, 7+ years PAE

An exciting opportunity exists for a talented banking and finance lawyer with 7+ years’ experience to join KCL Law.

In this role, the successful applicant will enjoy working with borrowers and lenders in property and structured finance, acquisition finance and general corporate finance.

KCL Law undertakes a significant amount of general corporate and commercial work (including transactional mergers and acquisitions) and a candidate with both finance and general corporate transactional experience (or at least a candidate looking for that mix of work) will be preferred.

Essential personal attributes for the role include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, aptitude for providing commercial legal solutions, a keen interest in client development and building strong relationships both internally and externally.

Commercial and Corporate Lawyer, 2 years PAE

We have an excellent opportunity for a commercial lawyer to join our well-established Commercial and Corporate team.

We are seeking a lawyer with 2 years’ experience post admission. You will ideally have some experience with the Australian Consumer Law, the PPSR regime, sale of businesses, complex shareholder agreements, partnership of trusts, employee share plans, company secretarial work and distribution contracts and associated drafting and negotiations.

The successful candidate will have strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills and a knowledge of the Corporations Act.

Paralegal — Employment and Workplace Relations

An exciting opportunity exists for a law student with a strong interest in employment law to join our firm on a casual basis.

The firm’s Employment and Workplace Relations team provides advice to a wide range of businesses on a variety of matters including employment contracts, employment-related litigation, Fair Work Ombudsman investigations and claims and unfair dismissals.

In this position, you will work under the guidance of the Employment and Workplace Relations lawyers and be mentored on a range of employment law matters. The successful candidate must be studying law and have a strong academic transcript. Previous Seasonal Clerkship experience is an advantage.

Your duties will include:

  • supporting the lawyers in the team;
  • file management;
  • conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda;
  • preparing first drafts of legal advices;
  • entering client data into Affinity;
  • opening and closing files; and
  • general administrative tasks as required.

Essential personal attributes for the role include excellent written and oral communication skills, attention-to-detail, strong interpersonal and organisational skills, the confidence to communicate with clients professionally and the ability to work in a team environment. Construction and Infrastructure Lawyer, 4-5 years PAE

A great opportunity exists for a construction lawyer with 4-5 years’ experience to join our Construction and Infrastructure team.

The role is predominantly focused on front-end tender and contract review, drafting and negotiation, project consulting and litigation (the full life of a construction project). You will be immediately exposed to top-tier type litigation (and arbitration / expert determination) on major projects involving well-known participants in Australian construction and infrastructure, along with adjudications and judicial reviews under Security of Payment Legislation.

The ideal candidate will be keen, confident, quick-thinking and reasonably autonomous and committed to strive for excellence in a team environment, with ample opportunities to build on existing networks and develop their own practice with the strong and ongoing support of the team’s Principal Lawyers.

Department Assistant — Estate Group

We have an exciting opportunity for a capable department assistant to join our firm on a casual basis, two days a week.

In this role, you will assist the legal secretaries and lawyers in our Estate Group as well as provide administrative assistance to the firm as required.

Your duties will include:

  • supporting the secretaries and lawyers in the team;
  • file management;
  • scheduling appointments and meetings as necessary;
  • entering client data into Affinity;
  • opening and closing files;
  • preparation of documents to be archived;
  • preparation of documents for safe custody; and
  • general administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning and binding documents.

The successful candidate must be proactive, a team player and possess the following personal attributes:
