Finance and Commercial Lawyer, mid-level

An opportunity exists for a talented mid-level finance and corporate transactional lawyer to join our dynamic, professional and friendly team.

Employment Senior Associate, 7+ years' PAE

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, passionate and hardworking employment lawyer at the level of Senior Associate to join our Employment and Workplace Relations team on a full-time basis.

To be successful, you will have a passion for employment law, be client focused and commercially astute, and have had 7+ years’ experience practising employment and workplace relations law. In addition to having a solid understanding of the Fair Work Act, you will need to have skills in legal research, drafting, client relations, conciliation and litigation.

Building and Construction Senior Associate (front-end and back-end), 10+ years' PAE

This is a great opportunity for a building and construction lawyer at a Senior Associate or Special Counsel level who is looking to join our growing team. With the support of the Principal Lawyer and Head of the Building and Construction practice, the ideal candidate will be keen to build networks and develop their own practice. A transferable client base is an advantage and you will be recognised for any practice that you may bring with you.

Requiring an experienced practitioner, the role will be a mix of front-end building and construction and back-end litigation. Strong drafting skills and knowledge of AS4300 and AS2124 are required.

Property Senior Associate, 10+ years' PAE

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, ambitious and highly professional lawyer looking to advance their career in a dynamic and growing practice.

KCL Law’s Property team are dynamic and astute and have experience advising on a broad range of property matters, including major development projects, commercial transactions and leasing and residential transactions.

We are seeking an experienced practitioner with approximately 10 years' PAE in property law to join our team. Together with solid technical and drafting skills, the successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of, and experience in, drafting and negotiating contracts of sale, commercial leases, development agreements, joint venture agreements, due diligence, acquisitions and disposals, and commercial landlord and tenant work.

Owners Corporation Lawyer, 4+ years' PAE

As our property and general litigation practices continue to grow, there is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic lawyer to join our Owners Corporation practice.

KCL Law focuses on having a team of legal experts with a wealth of industry and professional experience, forming partnerships with our clients and building long-term relationships with them. In the last three years, we have successfully built a practice within the Owners Corporation industry, primarily working for owners corporations and their managers. We are now looking for an experienced lawyer to synergise and continue our success in this area.

You will have matter management responsibility and substantial experience in litigation advice, debt recovery and compliance, as well as leasing, licencing, common property and subdivisions. You will have at least a small referral network and the initiative to continually build upon this. We are looking for someone who is as comfortable working autonomously, as well as in a team environment.

Please note, that a strong knowledge of the Owners Corporations Act is required for this position.

Support roles

Corporate Receptionist, 11-month maternity leave contract

We are currently seeking a full-time corporate receptionist on an 11-month maternity leave contract.

As our front of house receptionist, you will greet our clients and deal with the daily internal and external inquiries, while maintaining the appearance of the reception area.

Responsibilities include:

  • management of incoming calls and emails;
  • meeting and greeting clients;
  • operating and programming the switchboard;
  • organising and distributing incoming mail and faxes;
  • organising and booking courier distribution;
  • scheduling appointments and meetings;
  • co-ordinating catering with the Hospitality Coordinator;
  • maintaining the reception area to a high standard; and
  • office administrative duties when required.

To be considered for this role, you must have at least three years' experience in a receptionist role preferably in a professional service firm and an understanding of administrative duties. 

A positive attitude, time management skills incorporating attention-to-detail and excellent communication skills are essential. You should be highly confident in handling difficult situations and possess a good telephone manner.  A team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills are a must.

Property Secretary

We have an opportunity for a capable legal secretary to join our Property team supporting two lawyers, as well as providing administrative assistance across the firm when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • taking instructions and completing tasks with minimal assistance;
  • ensuring work is accurate and on time;
  • file management;
  • dictaphone typing including correspondence and file notes;
  • diary management and control of deadlines;
  • client liaison;
  • filing and service of documents;
  • monthly billing using Affinity practice management system;
  • entering client data into Affinity; and
  • general administrative tasks, such as photocopying, opening/closing files and binding documents.

The successful candidate must be an experienced secretary with a professional telephone manner and is comfortable in dealing with clients and taking accurate instructions.

Essential for the role are a positive attitude, exceptional time management skills incorporating attention-to-detail and excellent communication skills. A team player with strong interpersonal skills are a must.
