Paralegal — Employment and Workplace Relations

An exciting opportunity exists for a law student with a strong interest in employment law to join our firm on a casual basis.

The firm’s Employment and Workplace Relations team provides advice to a wide range of businesses on a variety of matters including employment contracts, employment-related litigation, Fair Work Ombudsman investigations and claims and unfair dismissals.

In this position, you will work under the guidance of the Employment and Workplace Relations lawyers and be mentored on a range of employment law matters. The successful candidate must be studying law and have a strong academic transcript. Previous Seasonal Clerkship experience is an advantage.

Your duties will include:

  • supporting the lawyers in the team;
  • file management;
  • conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda;
  • preparing first drafts of legal advices;
  • entering client data into Affinity;
  • opening and closing files; and
  • general administrative tasks as required.

Essential personal attributes for the role include excellent written and oral communication skills, attention-to-detail, strong interpersonal and organisational skills, the confidence to communicate with clients professionally and the ability to work in a team environment. A well-presented individual with a good attitude is a must.

Construction and Infrastructure Lawyer, 4-5 years PAE

A great opportunity exists for a construction lawyer with 4-5 years’ experience to join our Construction and Infrastructure team.

The role is predominantly focused on front-end tender and contract review, drafting and negotiation, project consulting and litigation (the full life of a construction project). You will be immediately exposed to top-tier type litigation (and arbitration / expert determination) on major projects involving well-known participants in Australian construction and infrastructure, along with adjudications and judicial reviews under Security of Payment Legislation.

The ideal candidate will be keen, confident, quick-thinking and reasonably autonomous and committed to strive for excellence in a team environment, with ample opportunities to build on existing networks and develop their own practice with the strong and ongoing support of the team’s Principal Lawyers.
