Hospitality Coordinator, full-time

We currently have a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, professional and experienced hospitality coordinator to join our firm.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the catering of the firm’s meetings and events, including morning teas, lunches and seminars, and ensuring the front-of-house is presentable and kitchens maintained.

Key responsibilities include:

  • ensuring the reception area, boardroom and meeting rooms are kept presentable at all times;
  • the management of three kitchens, including two staff kitchens;
  • maintaining a high-standard of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness at all times;
  • the ordering and restocking of supplies across all three kitchens;
  • coordinating external caterers and suppliers;
  • setting-up and serving of food for morning teas, lunches, seminars and meetings;
  • ordering and preparing coffees and beverages for client and staff meetings; and
  • the maintenance, ordering and cleaning of the three automated coffee machines.

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to assist with reception duties on occasion.

This role is very hands-on and requires excellent organisational skills, attention-to-detail and a positive work attitude.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role, the ability to communicate with clients and staff effectively, and a friendly and approachable demeanour. Both boardroom and barista experience will be advantageous and considered highly.

Commercial Litigation Lawyer, 3 to 4 years' PAE

As our Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice continues to grow, there is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious commercial litigation lawyer looking to advance their career in a dynamic and growing firm, which recently moved to a new premises concurrent with the firm rebranding after almost 40 years.

We are seeking an experienced practitioner with approximately 3 to 4 years' PAE in commercial litigation, who has spent the past few years learning the skills necessary to succeed as a litigation lawyer (preferably, but not absolutely, in Melbourne).

Ideally, the successful candidate will have had exposure to a range of areas, including the rules of civil procedure in all major courts, the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), partnership / shareholder disputes, insolvency (corporate and personal), property / lease disputes (including retail leases), competition and consumer law (including Australian Consumer Law), professional indemnity, defamation and insurance coverage disputes.

Finance and Commercial Lawyer, 5+ years' PAE

Legal Secretary, 6 month maternity leave contract role

We have an opportunity for a Legal Secretary to work in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice with three lawyers, including a Special Counsel, for 6 months commencing January 2018.

We are looking for an experienced secretary who has a professional telephone manner and is comfortable in dealing with clients and taking accurate instructions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • taking instructions and completing tasks with minimal assistance;
  • ensuring work is accurate and on time, every time;
  • dictaphone-based typing including correspondence and file notes;
  • preparation of counsel briefs;
  • monthly billing using Affinity practice management system;
  • general administrative tasks including photocopying, and opening / closing files;
  • diary management and control of deadlines;
  • knowledge of Supreme / County / VCAT / Federal Court rulings relating to formatting, filing and service of documents;
  • online company, business name and title searches; and
  • other duties as requested by the practice group leader and partners.

The successful candidate must possess accurate keyboard skills with knowledge and experience of using digital dictation, and have a high degree of attention to detail and excellent time management skills. In addition, they must be self-motivated and reliable, and have a positive attitude.

Building and Construction Senior Associate (front-end and back-end), 10+ years' PAE

This is a great opportunity for a building and construction lawyer at a Senior Associate or Special Counsel level who is looking to join our growing team. As our property and general litigation practices continue to grow, there is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic lawyer to join our Owners Corporation practice.

KCL Law focuses on having a team of legal experts with a wealth of industry and professional experience, forming partnerships with our clients and building long-term relationships with them. In the last three years, we have successfully built a practice within the Owners Corporation industry, primarily working for owners corporations and their managers. We are now looking for an experienced lawyer to synergise and continue our success in this area.

You will have matter management responsibility and substantial experience in litigation advice, debt recovery and compliance, as well as leasing, licencing, common property and subdivisions. You will have at least a small referral network and the initiative to continually build upon this.
