The Role
We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution team. In this role, you will be supporting a Principal Lawyer and three other Lawyers, as well as providing assistance to the firm as required. Litigation experience at another law firm will be highly valued for this role, as well as an interest or experience in business disputes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Knowledge of Supreme/County/VCAT/Federal Court rulings relating to formatting, filing and service of documents;
- Dictaphone based typing including correspondence and file notes;
- Taking instructions and completing tasks autonomously;
- Completing tasks accurately and efficiently;
- Preparation of Briefs to Counsel and court documents, including pleadings;
- Monthly billing using Affinity practice management system;
- Diary management and control of timeframes;
- Online company, business name and title searches; and
- General administrative tasks including photocopying and opening/closing files.
The Candidate
We are looking for a Legal Secretary with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Prior experience in Commercial Litigation would be preferred, however is not mandatory. This role is ideal for someone who is a team player with a positive attitude. As it is a fast-paced practice, experience in managing multiple tasks will be beneficial.
The successful candidate must be self-motivated, reliable and possess accurate keyboard skills with knowledge and experience of using digital dictation, with high degree of attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.
