Alan is an integral member of the Building and Construction team, with a focus on construction disputes, litigation, adjudications under the building and construction industry Security of Payment Act and judicial reviews of adjudication determinations. He has extensive experience acting for head contractors, subcontractors, developers, owners and construction professionals in handling various types of disputes, including contract claims, negligence claims, insurance matters, consumer law claims, disciplinary inquiries, and insolvency.
While assisting clients to develop strategies to resolve disputes early and favourably, Alan also advises clients on how to avoid disputes and manage potential risks before they occur or escalate. Alan achieves this through the implementation of risk management policies with construction businesses and ensuring contracts are drafted or updated with the best provisions to protect against risk.
Alan also has extensive experience in the negotiation and preparation of construction contracts and tenders for large and small construction companies and developers.
Alan regularly appears in all Victorian Courts and Tribunals and works with clients in all Australian States and Territories. In addition to the Law Institute of Victoria, he is also a member of the Building Dispute Practitioners Society and Society of Construction Law.
Alan joined KCL Law (then called Kliger Partners) in February 2012 as an Associate and was appointed to Senior Associate in July 2013.
